Online Group Exhibition - "Wanderlust” March 2019

“Kerkis Looking West” by Alek Lindus | Busch Pressman Camera + Fomapan 200 Film

Photographers are most often a very curious breed of artist. They do not side idly by while the world passes them over, uninterested. To the contrary, they get up, get out, and apply their vision to the people, environment, and culture all around them. They are explorers by trade - examining and learning, processing and interpreting, and presenting us all with the yields of their efforts. We look to them as navigators, steering us to the furthest reaches of our planet, and inspiring us to do the same.

Analog Forever Magazine is pleased to showcase 30 images, in this online exhibition curated by Alan Ross, that display the wanderlust that drives us to travel in search of images that get our blood moving like nothing else. These images show us where these photographers have been, and how they have explored our planet and all things that reside there.

Alan Ross writes: “Curating a themed exhibition like this has been both rewarding and challenging, and even a bit painful. All of my own photographs are my children in a way – something I cared to create – and showing them is really showing a piece of myself. The painful part was that in order to select thirty images for the exhibition, I had to say NO to nearly ninety percent of the images submitted.  To do this, I had to “focus” on the base themes of Wanderlust: “travel”, “blood-moving” and “how you’ve explored.”

It was not easy!  But I am thrilled to be able to share the 29 images that DID make the cut! A woman gazing out the window of a train, a mysterious blue and green forest, roads, decks, and seas leading into the unknown, signs at an intersection pointing in opposite directions. Ultimately, I chose one image that said it all, an image with no title, just a file number. An image of a lone woman standing on a mountain crag, gazing into a vast ocean of distance. It was travel, emotion and exploration all rolled into one. Bravo!
