We are excited to announce that our January 2021 online group exhibition, “Memories in Artifacts”, is being curated by artist and Analog Forever Magazine Social Media and Community Manager, Lynn Bierbaum! To enter, all you need to do is read and respond to the following prompt with your analog photography:

Lynn Bierbaum writes: Artifacts are human-made objects or tools that are used to serve a purpose or function throughout history. They are also a strong source of memories and symbols throughout our lives. Although human contact may be minimal during these times our memories are what last forever. 

Look around the place you are at and see the different artifacts surrounding you. As mundane as some may be, each item holds a memory of some kind. Some positive, some negative, and some that relate to a specific person, time period, or place. These items become so much more than what they appear at first sight and summon different memories to each viewer.

So set up your still lives or capture the objects where they lay. Let’s share some memories together through our artifacts! 

We invite you to submit up to two photographs for this exhibition that capture the concept of this theme. We offer no limits to the photographs submitted, other than the fact that they are created with analog film or process. The best of these images will be showcased in an online show curated by Analog Forever Magazine's Social Media Manager, Lynn Bierbaum. This online exhibition will go live on our website on January 11th, 2021! Please follow the directions below to complete your submission. Good luck!

About the Curator

Lynn Bierbaum is a Minneapolis based Alternative Photographer and Glass artist. She is an avid traveler who is always looking for her next place to photograph. She started working in film back in 2010 and alternative photography in 2015 starting with Platinum palladium and then moving into other processes such as albumen, salt, van dyke brown, and wet plate collodion. 

Lynn is also a glassblower who has traveled across Europe and the United States assisting, and working with well-known glass artists. Most recently working for the Corning Museum of Glass, in upstate NY.

Her current fine art work is printing wet plate collodion on her blown glass forms. Lynn’s work strives to find a balance between two and three-dimensional planes. She blows the glass vessels to create an extension beyond the photograph that is just as important as the image itself. 

She has been recognized in Analog Forever Magazine as an interviewed artist in the 1st issue, Runner-up in Modern Collodion’s 2019 Wet Plate Competition, and featured in multiple issues of The Hand magazine.

Submission Guidelines: 

Image Specifications:
1) Only .jpg files will be accepted.
2) Images must be 1500px on the shortest side at 72dpi.
3) No photo-shopped borders or watermarks. 
4) Only two images may be submitted.
5) Images must be named in the following format: “FirstNameLastName1.jpg”, etc.

Email Specifications:
1) The subject line of your email should state: "Submission: Memories in Artifacts”
2) Please ATTACH your images to the email. Do not embed them. Do not attach a google drive or dropbox link. 
3) Please do not send PDF or Text Files. Please put all information into the body of the email.

Specific information needed for each Submission:
1) Your name as you would like it to appear.
2) The Camera and Process used to create your images.
3) Titles for each of your photograph(s). Write out each title exactly as you would like it to appear.
4) Email Address in the text of the email.
5) The Website Address you would like your images linked to.
